Keeley & Mark | St. Paul Winter Engagement Session
Keeley and Mark's winter engagement session was chock full of laughter and fun with a huge dose of "go with the flow" spirit. We met on a very cold, so so cold, dangerously cold winter day just one day after a big snow storm, and these two embraced it all like no couple I've seen before! (Sit in the snow? Sure! Snow angels? Ok!) We started (briefly) at Harriet Island on the snow drifts and just literally IN the snow.
Then we moved to Bad Weather Brewing Company, their favorite neighborhood brewery. I hadn't been before and loved the wall of window light and industrial modern decor. The Bad Weather people were so gracious to have us in there just as they were opening and it was moment #1892 that I wish I liked beer. But as we wrapped a super-fun and totally "them" engagement session, I knew Keeley and Mark's wedding would be nothing shy of awesome.
I've said many times that "Winter engagement sessions are underrated" (and I maintain that it's true, even though more than the usual amount of couples listened to me last year and opted for chilly-weather shoots). People tend to lean towards summer and fall sessions, right?! But winter is bright, beautiful, clean, and clear with it's own unique qualities. Sometimes we even get lucky with a fresh snowfall like this one.
We can move quickly when outside, bundle up reasonable, and that bright, stunning, reflected light is so worth it! It's good though - crucial, really - to have a nearby secondary location indoors for thawing, but why not embrace Minnesota in all it's seasonal beauty!? Another benefit: public parks and hotspot locations to ourselves, especially with sessions during the week! I'm sure there are more, but the final bonus I'll mention with couple's sessions that isn't an option for weddings: rescheduling if the weather is just plain bad, or if we want to wait a bit more for that snow to fall.
Couple's sessions are flexible in all aspects, including if you and your someone just want a quality documentation of your relationship wherever it happens to be (dating, partnered, married, anything)!
