Katie & Keith | Minnesota Boat Club | St. Paul Wedding Photography
Katie and Keith were married at the Minnesota Boat Club on June 9th. It was a classic June day in Minnesota: some rain, some clouds, some sun, and an awesome couple gathered with their friends and family for a beautiful wedding. Katie got ready at the Hyatt Place St. Paul/Downtown, the newest hotel in St. Paul. We photographed her first sight with Keith in and around the hotel before heading with family and the wedding party to the Union Depot in downtown St. Paul for portraits, umbrellas high to stay dry.
All the wedding party members were also family - brothers, cousins, nephew - and even one of Keith's childhood friends got in on the fun as their wedding officiant. I love that having a special friend or family member to officiate is gaining popularity - it's another great way to incorporate a special person and personal element to your wedding!
Then to the Minnesota Boat Club for Katie and Keith's ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner reception, dancing, and photo finale! Rain plans are real and necessary and went into action for the ceremony, but the skies cleared and sun peeked out starting with the cocktail hour. We made some gorgeous photos around the outside of the boat club between toasts and dancing. We have long days in June, and it was lovely to enjoy all the daylight that June day gave us!
Katie and Keith's engagement session was last fall in the North Loop along the river because they live, work, and play downtown Minneapolis, especially in the North Loop neighborhood. Engagement sessions are another great way to incorporate a part of your everyday life that may be harder to represent at the wedding itself, such as a pet, hobby, favorite brewery/park/restaurant, etc.
