Kate & Matt | Minneapolis Engagement Session | Silverwood Park & Sample Room

These two were a ball to photograph for their Minneapolis Engagement Session!  Kate and Matt's engagement session started at Silverwood Park in St. Anthony.  I don't recall having shot there before and it was a great inaugural session.  It was a really lovely and quiet park with a very impressive visitor center (complete with smoothie, coffee, and snacks bar) - plus dog friendly!  Their pup Dutch was along for this first leg of their session, as well as the couple's friend and future wedding officiate in the role of  Dog Wrangler for the day).  It was great to have her second set of hands to hold Dutch's leash when he wasn't being photographed, and to help get his attention when he was.

Kate and Matt braved one hot hot hot day.  Something about the heat though (science?!) brings out such beautiful, rich, juicy images, they even have a kind of glaze overlay that's hard for me to explain.  Just simply it's a giant perk to make the sweat and heat worth it.  And man, is it worth it!

Location number two was The Sample Room in NE Minneapolis.  After Kate and Matt did an outfit change and dropped Dutch off to nap (he fell immediately to sleep, I heard), we met up at the restaurant.  This is where Kate and Matt had first confirmed they were an official couple.  It was a lovely spot to photography, too - huge shoutout to The Sample Room for being so gracious and accommodating in letting us photograph inside briefly.  It started to rain (ah sweet relief) when we'd first arrived, but we did some shots on the patio and in front of the building too.  What a perfect "Northeast Minneapolis" spot.

Kate and Matt's wedding will be this October at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds, complete with state fair inspired food, Kate-made seed art, and I can't wait to see what else!  I'm so thrilled to be Kate and Matt's photographer through their wedding story!
