Peggy and Mike's bright sunny warm July wedding day was just exactly how they wanted it: an intimate, simple late morning wedding with their children, families, and good friends at the forefront. Their wedding party was made up of their six grown children, three on each side. It's hard to miss how much Peggy and Mike love being together and going through life hand in hand. They are so sweet together and a ton of fun to be around - always smiling and cracking jokes and lovingly teasing each other.
This was my first time photographing a ceremony at Trellis Outdoor Wedding Ceremonies in Stillwater. (I found out afterwards that a photographer friend, an amazing photographer herself, was covering a ceremony there, too, the one after ours.) What stunning surroundings for a wedding ceremony - so lush and rich and colorful - a photographer's playgroud!
Then a quick scenery change as we moved from Trellis to the reception at Gordy's Steak House. Here the mood was dark, romantic, and classic - just how you would imagine a steakhouse to be. Peggy and Mike are friends with the owners of Gordy's and frequent the restaurant, so they were excited to rent the venue for their cocktail hour-style reception before it opened for dinner. Guests got to mingle, cool off, eat and drink with the couple for the rest of their wedding celebration. Then, according to Mike, he and his new wife were going to tell everyone to "get the [heck] out" and they were going home.
