Carissa & Giovanni | Minneapolis Engagement Photos | Boom Island & In Studio
Hooray for Minneapolis Engagement Photos! This truly is a beautiful city for engagement photos.
Carissa and Giovanni's engagement session was last June, starting at Boom Island Park in more casual attire, then at my Northeast Minneapolis studio with a dressier look. These two met while living in California and had been back in Minnesota for two years when I met them. Carissa got in touch for their engagement session coverage. They were planning a destination wedding in Puerto Rico and wanted a touch of Minneapolis in their image story. It was clear just how much fun these two have in each other's company - it's so nice and energizing to witness those happy memories being created.
Carissa and Giovanni love skylines, being goofy, and having fun together. We certainly covered all three of these. We got to play in sunlight, shade, and dappled light at Boom Island, then window light and shadows in the studio. I certainly can't plan to have all those great lighting options, but I'll take each and every one of them!
Doing the Boom Island - Studio location combo has worked out really well and results in a range of images and looks. These two spots are very close to each other and each offers a unique setting. Boom Island has it all for outdoor locations: trees, water, walking paths... and then the Minneapolis skyline, a wrought iron foot bridge, and all the nearby restaurants and breweries Northeast has to offer. The studio provides that clean, simple, white-walled looked, keeping attention on the subjects and giving us a clean slate to work with. The studio also makes a great rain plan if need be. Though, in case of questionable weather, portrait and engagement sessions can be rescheduled if you prefer. We have that flexibility - as opposed to a wedding.
Choosing a location for your session that aligns with your personalities and preferences is key. I'm always happy to help suggest or chat about options.
