Kayla & Kyle | Nicollet Island Pavilion | Minneapolis Wedding Plus Guthrie Theater Engagement Session

Nicollet Island Pavilion Minneapolis Wedding
Kayla and Kyle traveled from Dallas to Minneapolis for their wedding (and multiple times throughout the planning phases), though they’re soon moving back to Minnesota after being South for a few years.  Some family is here or close by, and I’m so glad they decided to stick with a “back home” wedding and chose me to be their wedding photographer.  They did go back to being world travelers, though, with an immediate honeymoon in Italy and Greece!
Kayla and Kyle were married at the Nicollet Island Pavilion, and Kayla and her bridesmaids got ready in the bridal suite at Nicollet Island Inn.  We did the couple’s first sight behind the Pavilion and though it was steamy out, that hot hot light really adds an enchanting haze and romantic aura to the images.  Is it science?  Whatever it is, it makes those thick, sunny summer days so so worth it!  And you certainly appreciate the shade and what breeze there is and just do it!  I loved this couple’s finale images, some with the bridge silhouetted around them, and then back behind the Pavilion with that twilight starting to settle and glow off the water.
Kayla and Kyle’s 2017 engagement session was in and around the Guthrie Theater.  That whole area is so visually appealing, with the Guthrie’s sleek bold architecture, the more urban grunge of Mill City and along River Road, and of course the Stone Arch Bridge.  Just about anywhere you turn around there offers an interesting backdrop, so it’s just a matter of finding great light and lightly directing the couple so they look even more amazing!

Kayla and Kyle’s engagement couples session was at a prime spot in Minneapolis.  We started at the Stone Arch Bridge on the downtown side, then perused our way up to the Guthrie Theater, stopping along the way, for some more little spots in and around the theater.  Kayla and Kyle started with a more formal black dress and suit coat look, then switched to a bit more casual look for the second part of the session.  Very snazzy!
